I am nominating Caroline Stainkamph for advancing the role of women in IT both within Computershare Australia and globally, but also in the broader IT community.
These initiatives (outlined below and attached) have been instrumental in sustaining gender diversity within our Technology Services group in Australia. Currently we have 29% female distribution compared to the Victoria average of 19%.
These statistics are mirrored in the team leader and senior leadership levels.
Caroline’s determination and passion will see diversity statistics improve even more within Computershare globally and more broadly within the Australian IT community.
Within Computershare she has established:
A network for women in Computershare Technology Services to increase the number of women in IT within Computershare and reduce attrition and increase the number of women in senior technical and leadership roles.
- Recruitment experiment
Caroline is working with the Computershare recruitment partners looking at blind CV’s and the wording of job advertisements to attract both genders. Conducting experiments to compare our current practices vs the new method.
- Global Computershare meetings to discuss diversity initiatives
Working with many of our Global leaders overseas and in particular our Talent Management program. Caroline has led the team to deliver guidelines and toolkits to improve the performance management, talent identification and succession planning processes – these will help our people managers be more consistent and objective, which in turn will help encourage diversity in our workplace.
While Caroline sits on a global team, ideas are often adopted and spread through regional teams such as the talent management program.
Within the community
• Active member of VIC ICT for women #Bold moves initiative
• Mentor in the VIC ICT Program
• Speaker at various community events

As this nomination is regarding various work Caroline has done please see attachment with comments/feedback from others that work with her or attended an event.
A common resistance Caroline faces in most leadership meetings and any initiatives presented is ‘well we are already better than the industry average so why do we need to do that?’ Caroline keeps pushing and reminding them it takes work to stay there and we should try to do even better.
In one of the initiatives the 'Recruitment experiment' there was resistance. However details are going to be submitted via another entry under Computershare.
